Practitioner Recommendations For Emergency Management Collegiate Student Research Projects
The purpose of the Practitioner's Corner is two-fold. First is to create another way for emergency management practitioners to communicate their thoughts and ideas concerning collegiate-level hazard, disaster and emergency management courses and programs to the educators responsible for those courses and programs.
Solicited are volunteered short papers on such subjects as:
· Competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities EM educators should be seeking to develop or bring out in their students.
· Philosophical perspectives on the different ways to look at or approach the emergency management position.
· Lessons learned in disasters.
· Lessons learned in bureaucratic politics.
· Success stories, obstacles overcome, and challenges met.
· Emergency management public policy issues.

Submissions and questions should be electronically forwarded to the FEMA Emergency Management Higher Education Program at Barbara.Johnson3@fema.dhs.gov. Papers offered for consideration will be selected and posted on the Higher Education Project website based on originality, unique perspective, clarity, and perceived usefulness to emergency management practitioners and educators. FEMA reserves the right to edit content.
