RECRUITMENT NOTICE: E362 Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools Train-the-Trainer


The Emergency Management Institute is accepting applications for E362 Multi-Hazard Emergency Planning for Schools Train-the-Trainer course scheduled for 2006.

Dates:

March 6-9, 2006
April 24-27, 2006
June 12-15, 2006
July 24-27, 2006

Course Information: This 4-day course provides participants with the knowledge, skills and tools needed to develop effective all-hazard emergency operations plans (EOP) for school emergencies. The course focuses on the four phases of emergency management and explains how to use the Incident Command System (ICS) as the foundation for a school emergency response plan. By using ICS, school personnel will be able to coordinate their emergency activities with outside agencies in response to any situation. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to revise their EOPs based on lessons learned from exercises and/or actual emergencies.

Location: The course is offered at the National Emergency Training Center in Emmitsburg, Maryland, during the dates referenced above. Courses begin Monday at 8:30 a.m. and conclude Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Buses depart from the NETC campus Friday at 9:30 a.m.

Participant Selection Criteria: This course is intended for State and local training teams. Teams should be comprised of the following:

First Responders:
• 1 person: School Resource Officer (SRO)/Law Enforcement
• 1 person: Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
• 1 person: Emergency Management

School District/School Officials: 5 people
• Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent
• Risk Manager
• School Security Official
• Transportation Coordinator
(over)
• School Safety Coordinator
• Principal or Vice Principal
• Facility Manager/Building Engineer
• Counselor/Psychologist
• Food Service Coordinator
• School Safety Team Member
• Nurse

Submit a cover sheet listing team member names and their positions (DO NOT DUPLICATE POSITIONS), along with the name of the team coordinator and his/her phone number. These applications should be submitted as a single package.
